Japanese Martial Arts – Art Prints for Sale
The prints below are part of my 2014 Japanese Martial Arts Collection and are my first 3D art prints available for sale.
Below are simple descriptions of the Japanese calligraphy used in these prints:
Aikidō: A modern Japanese martial art that focuses on blending with the motion of the attacker and redirecting their energy and force.
Budō: Japanese word for martial arts. Is sometimes written as budou or budo.
Dōjō: Japanese word for a place where students practice Japanese martial arts.
Jūdō: A modern Japanese martial art that has a competitive element similar to wrestling.
Jūjitsu: Japanese martial art that was evolved among the Samurai. Its principle is to use the attacker’s energy and force against them, rather than directly opposing it. Sometimes written as Jiu Jitsu, Jujutsu, Ju Jitsu or Jiujitsu.
Karate: Japanese martial art that uses striking, punching, kicking and sometimes grappling, locking and throwing.
