The Journey Soniei (pronounced sO.nE.A) was raised in a small Acadian-French community in Nova Scotia, Canada. She was taught how to draw and paint at the age of 6 and she dreamed of one day becoming an artist. However, Soniei didn’t always have time to create works of art while growing up. She began traveling as a professional dancer at the age of 12. She also began touring as a guitarist/singer at the age of 16. Soon after, she completed two degrees (Arts and Programmer Analyst) and moved to Japan. Motivated by a search for job security and a steady paycheck, Soniei explored many diverse careers that steered her away from the art scene. However, Soniei quickly found she had a void that could only be filled by her passion for painting. Determined to make her childhood dream a reality, she started working on a small Canadian business called ‘Soniei’s Contemporary Art’ when she was 24 years old.
